In the final part of the text Broodthaers corrects and amplifies a phrase of his first “open letter” where he alludes to the attempted murder of Andy Warhol by Valerie Solanas. Lamelas was an artist friend of Broodthaers. The “Kassel” editorial place is not accidental: against the institutional exhibition Documenta IV, inaugurated on June 27, 1968, an “Anti-Documenta” event took place at the Hotel Hessenland, in which they participated artists and intellectuals of the extra parliamentary area. Broodthaers participated, with Beuys, Christo and Panamarenko, for the Wide White Space Gallery. It is evident in the letter, the allusion to the student revolts of the ‘68 and an ironic distance from the new minimalist and conceptual tendencies.
