Les Levine / We are not afraid

€3,500.00

LEVINE Les (Dublin 1935)

[1980], 68,6x47,1 cm, poster/multiple printed in black on white paper with typewritten signature on the lower left margin of the sheet. Special edition in a few copies signed by the artist which differ from the poster distributed in thousands of copies in that it has the declarative writing printed in the center of the entirely white sheet. In 1982 the artist posted 4,800 posters illustrated with a color photograph and the words ‘We are not afraid’ in red in the advertising spaces of the New York subway, arguing that it was possible to exploit those noticeboards not only to sponsor a product but also to create a new way of exhibiting art.
