ELK van Ger (Amsterdam 1941 - Amsterdam 2014)

Deventer, Stichting Octopus, 1970, 29,5x21,5 cm., the work consists of two small booklets (6 x 9,5 cm) and two sets of 19 color photographs (7 x 8,5 cm), all cut into trapezoid shapes and mounted on a board. The board is folded and designed to stand upright with a rear support. The two related booklets do not display dates but instead track temperature periods, such as “1e Periode Warm” and “23e Periode Koud.” One photo series is printed in blue and features 19 stills from the video showing Van Elk inflating his left foot with his right. The other series consists of 19 black-and-white photographs depicting Van Elk seated at a table shaving a long cactus, which is highlighted in green. Exemplar complete with the mailing envelope, signed and posted to H.L.M. Defoer. Although the copy is in good condition, the two temperature sets are detached from the cardboard.
