colour-illustrated wrappers, staple-bound. First issue of FILE Megazine, the influential artists’ periodical founded and edited by General Idea—AA Bronson, Felix Partz and Jorge Zontal. Conceived as “an alternative to the alternative press,”FILE" emerged from the international mail-art network and appropriated the graphic identity of "LIFE" magazine, transforming the familiar masthead into a vehicle for artists’ projects, correspondence, documentation and unconventional cultural commentary. Known as the “Mr. Peanut Issue,” this inaugural number includes black-and-white illustrations throughout and an offset-printed insert by Dana Atchley. Published on April 15, 1972, in an edition of 3,000 copies. First edition.
