"...La mostra preparata per Essen, Parigi, Rivoli e Liegi si riferisce esclusivamente ad un solo tema: i castelletti di estrazione. Le altre storie tematiche, come gli altiforni, le torri di rifornimento d'acqua e di refrigerazione, i gasometri ecc., sono state deliberatamente escluse. I temi della mostra ha impegnato i due autori per più di vent'anni e li ha portati in parecchie aree industriali dell'Europa Occidentale e dell'America Settentrionale. La mostra odierna e la presente pubblicazione riuniscono per la prima volta i materiali relativi ai castelletti di estrazione: si ha così un'antologia visiva dell'epoca ed, allo stesso tempo, il suo specchio metafisico".
