"WHEN YOU REACH FOR THE TELEPHONE AND DISCOVER THAT THERE IS NO TELEPHONE THERE, SOMETHING HAPPENS THAT CREATES A REEVALUATION OF OTHER KNOWN PREMISES. THE ARTISTS GROUPED IN THIS EXHIBITION ALL DRAW SUBSTANTIAL POWER FROM THEIR ABILITY TO CREATE SIMULTANEOUS CONTRADICTORY THOUGHTS IN THE MINDS OF THE VIEWER. THE CLARITY AND PRECISION OF THEIR STATEMENTS MAKE THE ACCEPTANCE AND DELIBERANCE OF THIS SIMULTANEITY ALL THE MORE DIFFICULT TO SHAKE. EACH WORK ACTS AS A "TRIGGER" TO THE BACKLOG OF INFORMATION AND IMAGES THAT WE CARRY AROUND AND COMMENTS AS MUCH ON WHAT IS NOT THERE AS ON WHAT IS THERE. THE "OBJECT" IN THESE WORKS CAN BE SEEN AS A WINDOW TO THE MOTIVINALIST VENEMS S IN THE AUTONOMY OF THE ART OBJECT. THIS IS SOMETIMES DARK SIDE, IN DIRECT CONTRAST TO THE NOT TO IMPLY THAT THESE ARTISTS ARE NOT WELL VERSED IN THE LANGUAGE AND ISSUES OF THEIR CONCEPTUAL AND MINIMAL ANCESTORS. QUITE THE CONTRARY IS TRUE. THEY ARE DEPENDING ON A FORMAL READING, WHILE AT THE SAME TIME SUBVERTING THIS THROUGH AN EQUAL CONCERN WITH THE DOMESTIC, SEXUAL, PERSONAL AND MARGINAL." from the essay by Jack Hanley
